Reading Specialists

Reading Specialists

Our reading and literacy specialists are experienced in a wide range of approaches and interventions. We customize instruction to meet each individual student’s needs. Our reading specialists are experienced with the Orton-Gillingham based curricula including PAF and Wilson. Additionally, some are trained in Reading Recovery to support early struggling readers.

Math Specialists

Our math specialists individualize instruction to the meet the needs of all learners and all ages - preschool through college. We focus on developing a strong number sense, as well as strengthening mental math skills, critical thinking abilities, and problem solving strategies. Our instructors are well versed and current with Common Core curriculum and state standards, and have expertise in Singapore Math, Everyday Math, TERC Investigations, Harcourt and many other approaches.

Our writing coaches are available to work with students of all ages on writing tasks that include, but are not limited to idea generation, research and project outlining, short- or long-term writing assignments, skill development, and college application essays. Our coaches meet each student where they are in their writing experiences, and offer individualized support and guidance through each step of the writing process as needed.

Executive Function Coach

The executive functions are a diverse set of neurologically-based skills involving mental and emotional control, and self-regulation. These include managing oneself and one's resources in order to achieve a goal. Executive function is activated when we set goals; strategize the completion of a project; prioritize; manage time, organize material and information; need flexibility to shift situations; and use our working memory -the capacity to hold information in mind for the purpose of completing a task. Executive functions are directly related to the development of many academic skills that lead to success in school. Our coaches are skilled and knowledgeable in supporting students of all ages with these executive functions and their affect on one’s academic experiences.

College Admissions Counseling

Our college consultants will help families navigate the college selection and admissions process. Our focus is to match students with the colleges that are best suited to help them thrive and succeed. This begins with the identification of and assistance with researching colleges and universities of interest based on each student’s background, interests, affinities and personal goals. This includes: assessment of academic and enrichment programs and extracurricular activities to create an initial college research list; review and evaluation of the high school academic record; assistance in selecting classes throughout high school; and consideration of standardized tests (PSAT, SAT, ACT and SAT Subject Tests); consideration and planning of co-curricular, intern and summer activities.

Medical Homebound
Instruction

Medical Homebound Instruction

Students with special health problems, temporary illnesses, or injuries that prevent their attendance in school will be provided with instruction in the home, in the hospital, or at another site as determined by the family. Homebound instruction shall be provided for students who are confined at home or in a health care facility for periods that would prevent normal school attendance. GoEd understands the importance of delivering continued, compassionate instruction while your child is unable to attend school. We are here to support your family throughout this challenging time.

Hebrew Tutoring

Judaic and Hebrew Tutoring

Our instructors help provide students of all ages with developmentally appropriate activities that help facilitate and foster a positive Jewish identity. This includes, but is not limited to: teaching the Aleph-bet, exploring aspects of culture, history and tradition, as well as understanding how the Torah guides Jewish life. Our instructors are trained to help older students study the Torah and Haftarah in preparation of their Bar or Bat Mitzvah.

Shara Sheinberg
received her Masters degree from Bank Street College and is certified by the state of New York in both General and Special education. Early in her career, Shara was a pioneer of the inclusion and collaborative team teaching model, helping to launch the program in the New York City public schools. With over a decade of experience in both public and independent schools, Shara has continued success collaborating with colleagues, families, and students to ensure students' individual needs are met using the best practices. It has always been a goal of Shara’s to make sure that students not only demonstrate progress in academic areas, but that they grow socially and emotionally, as well as gain confidence in their abilities. Shara provides New York City and Westchester County based families with support and guidance in their children's educational experiences.


Stephanie

Stephanie Klein Eisler
is a credentialed teacher with a Masters degree in Education. As a child, Stephanie was given the nickname, "The Pied Piper" by her family because children were always drawn to her, often following her around the playground...and that has never changed. After becoming an award-winning teacher in New York City, as well as teaching at one of Palm Beach County's most competitive private schools, Stephanie became an adjunct professor, teaching graduate school classes at Fordham University in Manhattan. In addition, Stephanie spent years as a literacy coach affiliated with Columbia University's Teachers College. Her time was spent inside schools collaborating with the administration and faculty, both inside and outside the classroom. Due to her vast educational experiences, Stephanie has a keen ability to seek out and train the most qualified instructors to work with your children.
